Spring Snow

Alton was amazed by all the white stuff outside this morning. And, he wasn't the only one.

We received 28" of snow in less than 24 hours -- some 10" greater than anticipated by the regional forecasters! The governor has declared our county a disaster area along with 61 other counties in Kansas.

In our neighborhood, 6' drifts mark property lines. The alley lies beneath 4' of snow and our street is equally buried. Nothing short of a 4x4 can make it thru and we're on a designated snow route!

J dug a path to our carport in the backyard. He also worked with the neighbors to create a narrow trench out front that now runs the length of three homes. Alton was very impressed with his efforts and spent a lot of time adventuring this afternoon. In fact, J couldn't dig fast eno
ugh for the little man!

Before we packed it in, Alton went sledding for the first time. The boy loved it! He was on such a high that it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get him down for a nap.

We expect to do more of the same tomorrow and we don't anticipate anything less on Monday.
